Mystery Stories: Berlin Nights cerasus.media GmbH / Big Fish Games Inc 2008

Michelle Deanfield, an American journalist on Berlin, discovers plans from World War II for a machine that can solve the world's energy problems. She must visit several places in the city to collect all the pieces of the machine, while avoiding encounters with dangerous characters that have the same goal. This is a hidden object game with adventure elements. On most locations, the objective is to collect all the objects listed at the left side of the screen, on screens filled with assorted paraphernalia, within a time limit. The list is sometimes replaced by sound clips, black & white photos or by a series of riddles. In some places, the list only show one of the required objects at time, changing it every 30 seconds. Some objects start one of the mini-games when collected. They are standard variations of classic games like jigsaw puzzles, Simon and others. Some locations have the screen split in two similar images, where the player must click on the differences. Some of the objects scattered on the screen are interactive, and must be combined to solve a puzzle and move on to the next location. For example, coins have to be collected and put in a parking meter. The extensive help system have four different types of hints available on tabs at the bottom of the list. The magnifying glass highlights the position of one of the objects. The pair of binoculars show the position of several objects at once, for a few seconds. The coin stack increases the amount of points earned for each object found, for a limited time. The chronometer gives additional time to the clock. Extra hints are earned by collecting any bear that appears on the screen.
