Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine Himalaya Studios (aka Tierra) 2006

From the makers of the excellent free King's Quest VGA remakes at Tierra, comes their first commercial game. This is a witty western with a healthy dose of adventure, follows in the tradition of classic adventure gaming. Join Al, a middle-aged, feeble, Easterner, on his journey into the heart of the Wild-West in search of a suitable bride. Enjoy the quaint gold-rush town of Anozira; chat up highly flirtatious babes; cautiously evade warring Indian tribes; discover legends of lost gold; bask in the intense summer heat; encounter breathtaking landscapes; meet up with the occasional rabid prairie dog, and more! It has high-resolution, hand-painted 2D background illustrations and 3D pre-rendered character animations. In spite of its small-town setting, Al Emmo weighs in with around 70 locations and 35 characters (humans and animals). Detailed dialogue portraits of interactive characters and a lip-synched voice pack as well as more than two hours of beautiful, original musical score add to the fun. It's built on AGS, one of the most feature-intensive game development engines around. In Nov/2013, an Enhanced Edition of the game featuring reworked 2D animated cut scenes and a new voice actor for the protagonist was released. There are also a plethora of other tweaks and improvements!
