Castle Explorer Dorling Kindersley 1996

Kids, ages 8-11, experience the drama and danger of life in a 14th century castle with this intriguing CD. Young historians are free to explore the castle or choose to complete the king's mission. The castle is a detailed cross-section of a 14th century European castle illustrated by Stephen Biesty. Just like the beautiful DK cross-section books this castle is packed with rich detail, 3D rooms, fascinating medieval occupant and tons of captivating information. Kids will meet an alchemist who mixes strange potions, soldiers, troubadours, the jailer, the Baron and many more. Explorers will find the dungeon, courts, chapel, solar, gates, watchtower and so much more. Players can choose to wander and explore the castle as a young page or accept the king's mission. To complete the mission students must choose a disguise and search the castle for pieces of the secret map. In addition players will hunt for the answer to questions about medieval life and customs. But beware! As you spy on the baron someone might be spying on you. It is very easy to navigate the castle and the subject matter is fascinating. Students learn about crime and warfare, society and customs, health, trades and food of medieval Europe. There is a glossary to help with unknown words. Passages are not read aloud encouraging kids to read, read, read.
