After a rich heiress is killed, Agatha Christie's famous detective, Hercule
Poirot finds himself in the right place at the right time to investigate the crime
with a boatful of murder suspects onboard the S.S. Karnak as it floats serenely down
the Nile. Can the Belgian detective find the culprit before they reach port? The
game is beautifully designed and artfully drawn, using an engaging and intuitive
"seek-and-find" game dynamic. Award-winning game designer Jane Jensen has gone to
great lengths to remain faithful to the original storyline and the era. Fans of the
Queen of Crime and casual games alike will find the game immensely appealing as they
immerse themselves in the uncertain world of Hercule Poirot. In order to solve the
crime, Poirot (who in fact is you) will need to sleuth for clues in all the rooms of
the liner, and question each of the passengers. Look for the required objects that
are listed on the left-hand side of the screen and click them. The item will
immediately be crossed out of your to-find-list. It's similar to the Mystery Case
Files games, but you can also check different objects and the background of each
location is no longer a steady picture, but it contains animated elements. Just
like in real life, you can lift a book resting on the floor, turn its pages in order
to find the clue hidden behind the pages, or watch the wall clock ticking etc.
After searching for clues at the usual levels you'll be offered to tackle a sliding
puzzle containing a picture that will shed light on a mysterious murder and bring you
one step closer to its solution. Another stage of levels includes questioning the
suspects. You'll have a chance to meet the passengers and familiarize with their
biographies to sort out who was involved in this dreadful story. The history and
culture of the first part of 20th century is also nicely presented. |
