Set in a fastasy setting, you're a sword swinging knight out to slay evil
creatures and rescue your mate. The game is played from a cinematic 3rd-person
view, and you are given full control over how your character moves and swings your
sword corresponding to your mouse movements. It's challenging, and has thought
out level design, nice graphics though at times blocky, fun multiplayer support
and, perhaps its most important aspect, awesome control using the VSIM motion
technology. All characters and enemies have extremely smooth, fluid movements.
Enemies also have their own, unique characteristics, which are displayed in their
manner of fighting. For example, Kobolds, small blue dog-like creatures, are quick,
jumpy, and attack in numbers, while Ogres are massive in size, but extremely slow
in attacking. Different types of levels include fending off enemies on a river,
exploring through caves, and wandering around through ancient corridors. Players
must execute a wide range of tasks from finding different keys, to disguising as
the enemy; many of which are pretty difficult. Parts of the game will be played
many times before actually passing it. The arena mode, which has the multiplayer
option, involves up to four people (human or computer) inside a ring, hacking
each other to pieces. There are only four arenas to choose from: the Lava Pit,
Pit of Ennui, the Mosh Pit, and the Pit of Love. There is a cuss pack that used be available on Interplay support site that replaces the taunts in the game with more explicit "adult" language similar to the one for Redneck Rampage. See also: Die By The Sword: Limb From Limb |
