Eversion Zaratustra Productions 2008

Eversion was made for the TIGSource Commonplace Book competition inspired by the line sounds - possibly musical - heard in the night from other worlds or realms of being. Designed as a cutesy platformer, it quickly changes into something else and gradually throws overboard most of the standard platforming elements it appears to contain. The premise is however simple - travel through several worlds to save the princess in the castle. The character can jump and needs to collect gems in the levels. Although simple at first, at certain locations in the game, the scenery colour slightly changes and a silent music tracks loops over the existing one. At that point, the player can press the everse button that changes the scenery, music and the level conventions you were acquainted with. Enemies no longer damage you, certain objects become impassable, innocent trees become deadly hazards, the score starts spinning into infinity or the character is chased by dark clouds. These eversion techniques are needed to complete the levels and collect all the games. Somewhat like Braid, it is possible to complete a level without solving it entirely as it can be revisited afterwards for the remainder of the gems. Based on the amount of gems collected, this leads to two different endings, including altered levels and an extra level, for the player to find out. In 2010, a commercial high-definition version was released, now with Steam support. Complete achievements and compete against your friends in Time Attack levels!
