J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I Interplay Productions 1990

This is a fantasy role playing game based on the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. This game covers the first novel in the trilogy. Although the game follows the book, it also adds plenty of its own elements. Your quest is to carry the one ring to Mordor, and destroy it, thus saving Middle Earth from destruction. An enhanced CD-ROM version including many videos taken from the 1978 animation movie by Ralph Bakshi was also released. A second and third instalment were planned, but the third was never released because Interplay couldn't decide whether to do it as an RPG like the first two, or as a strategy game.
