It is August 1991, the USSR has only a few days left before its tremendous
collapse and KGB officer Maksim Rukov has been moved, without explanation, to the
newly formed Department 7, which investigates KGB corruption and roots out possible
double-agents and traitors. Sent to investigate the mysterious death of a private
detective, Rukov quickly uncovers a nefarious plot by top-level KGB generals to oust
President Gorbachev. Your character is never on-screen, you view scenes from a
first-person viewpoint even though th game is a standard point-and-click affair.
There is a time limit on your mission which makes it tougher as you must think on
the run. There are alternate solutions and outcomes to various puzzles which will
affect the overall gameplay. The graphics and music are pleasing and the story very
well done...definitely worth a play. An enhanced cd version was later released in North
America under the title of Conspiracy which included clips of Rukov's father
played by Donald Sutherland giving advice. |
