This is a PC version of Onimusha Warlords (the first million selling game for the PS2) that was released in China. Set in 16th Century Japan, during the period of the civil war dominated by Nobunaga Oda. You play Samanosuke Akechi, who dies during an attempt to stop the kidnapping of young princess Yuki, the sister to Yoshitatsu Saito. However, Akechi is given another chance at life, and is handed the power of the gauntlet (capable of powerful abilities). With this new power, you must fight your way through the many levels of un-dead beings (much like another Capcom series, Resident Evil). As you defeat the enemy, its soul is absorbed by the gauntlet, increasing its power and your chances of victory. The game scenario starts off with Nobunaga kidnapping Samanosuke's childhood sweetheart, and what follows is, naturally enough, the rescue of said sweetheart by brave hero. In its mixture of horror (the ghost of Nobunaga and his demonic forces) and sci-fi fantasy genres, Onimusha CT bears some similarities to Resident Evil. Splendid atmospheric graphics help give artistry to the slasher genre, and for those who care about such things, Takeshi Kaneshiro also took a part in creating the sounds and backing music for the game. On Jan 15/2019, Onimusha: Warlords Remastered was released with overhauled graphics adapted to modern screen resolutions, a new instrumental soundtrack, improved English dubbing, as well as a Japanese dialogue track. An easy difficulty level can now be chosen at the very beginning of the game, and not after a series of defeats in combat. The support for the analog gamepad knob, which was not available in the original, is certainly also a great help in playing with the game. Minor changes to the game interface have also been introduced, and smaller errors and imperfections of the original have been fixed. | ||
