The Path is a short horror game inspired by Little Red Ridinghood with a unique form of gameplay, designed to immerse you deeply into the dark themes of its story. You play six sisters, the Red Girls, who are sent to their grandmother's house, one by one, with the explicit command to stay on the path. But not all young women can resist the seductive allure of the dark forest along the way. Every interaction in the game expresses an aspect of the narrative. There is one rule in the game. And it needs to be broken. There is one goal. And when you attain it, you die. The Path features a continuous soundtrack composed by Jarboe and mixed in real time through in-game activity. There's something wrong with the forest. No matter how bright the sun shines, it remains dark and foggy. It smells like something died. Strange noises fill the rusty air. Squeaks and screeches. The dull thump of someone chopping trees. The wind playing eerie melodies on ghostlike flutes. Shivers run down her spine. She just left the city. Cars can't drive here anymore. Mother told her to go visit grandmother. The old lady lives all alone at the other side of the forest. Quite a walk from here. It's probably best if she stays on the path. Play six different avatars with distinct personalities and interact with autonomous characters driven by Drama Princess technology. It has a unique free-form gameplay: do what you want when you want it, and mix the music in realtime through in-game activity. Lose yourself in an endless forest filled with attractions and attrocities. In a new chapter, entitled "The Path - Prologue", you take control of the mysterious character of the Girl in White, who roams the forest and can assist the Red Girls in their explorations. It's a free standalone application that functions as a trial version of The Path, even though it contains content that is not part of the full release. |
