Samorost has become a cult classic amongst adventure gamers. The original free online Flash game has been played by millions, and captured imaginations around the world. Samorost 2 is a shareware title, with part one playable for free from the developer's website and the second part available at the price of $10 (USD). Although the new game is as short as its predecessor, it's a delightful game that is worth sampling all the way through to the end. It has no dialogue, inventory, or in-depth storyline to speak of, but is filled with enchanting levels and inventive puzzles. The little gnome from the original is fast asleep in his house when a pair of aliens land their spaceship in the garden and start to steal the fruit from the trees and then take off with his dog whose job it is to rescue and return home safe and sound. The first (free) section of the game ends with the rescue of the dog, while the second sees you trying to escape from an unknown planet back to your beloved home. The artwork in the levels is amazing and unique, with the creatures you interact with and the little details adding to the great atmosphere. The full game only takes about 2 hours to finish but it's highly recommended to all. For 15th anniversary, in Nov 5/2020, an Enhanced version free update has game now running in full-screen and with improved visuals, achieving higher resolution of assets thanks to a custom trained AI. Sounds have been revised and often re-recorded, too, giving the main character a wider range of vocal expressions, and more. The list of improvements continues with a new opening screen, simplified user interface, minor tweaks in game design, and achievements support. The outdated, level code-based save system was replaced with a more user-friendly level selection in the main menu. There's also the new zoom feature that allows you to explore the world from up close.
