Originally released in 3 episodes on iOS in 2013-2014, République is a stealth survival horror video game that takes place in an unnamed totalitarian state, within a facility called "Metamorphosis". Hope is a woman who was born and raised in this facility and contacts the player in an attempt to escape. Players communicate with the main artificial intelligence-controlled character, Hope, through their phone or computer. The player controls surveillance cameras in the fictional totalitarian state of République in order to monitor Hope's actions, as well as hack into various electronic devices. The player must help Hope navigate through the environment to escape her captors. Other characters include a deceased revolutionary (voiced by David Hayter) who leaves audio logs behind for Hope and the "Mentor" (voiced by Jennifer Hale) who serves as Hope's caretaker. It's a thrilling and topical stealth-action game that explores the perils of government surveillance in the Internet Age. It has "One Touch" stealth action with immersive puzzles and strategic choices, and innovative, interactive developer commentary - eavesdrop on conversations recorded during the making of the game. The PC release is a new remastered version which rebuilds all the original mobile game's assets in Unity 5. Beyond redesigning the game's controls and UI for desktop, they've completely gutted all the game's art, rebuilding everything using Unity 5's cutting-edge graphical features. It includes the game's first three episodes (Feb 26), Episode 4: God's Acre (Dec 17) adds a new "nemesis", huge environments and interactive puzzles, new collectible types, shocking story revelations and more. Episode 5: Terminus (Mar 22/2016). A Deluxe Edition includes a soundtrack, documentary and two early prototypes. |
