A conundrum regarding Alien Resurrection (PS1)

Postby annoyment » Tue Jun 06, 2017 1:52 pm

Played this one a little in the past, albeit not so fond of remembering it, still fearing of facehuggers to this day the most (even if fictional; AvP2-PC renditions were the worst IMO  ). Then this bunch of dilemmas came up in my head. And no, yer not gonna read about survivability rates of chestburster excision surgeries, all game related, not in the mood to annoy that much :P
When infected with a facehugger wait until the last possible moment before using the autodoc. This way you won't run the risk of another infection and you can destroy any more of the little buggers in the vicinity. However you won't be able to use any control panels whilst infected.

Now, according to a guide at GameFAQs (related excerpt quoted here), are there any kind of "benefits" to the infected state? If so, could it help in faster/easier passage of the level (unless the levels are designed like so "rule" in the last sentence of the quote makes that basically hopeless)? And if level is passed will the infection be nullified when the next level is started, as in if such a glitch is achieveable? And lastly are there any other glitches/exploits found and how much they can help in said passage (unless the game is well-coded & hopelessly linear) :?:
Since :google: shows NO speedruns (not even TAS/any%) IDK if Alien Resurrection is even worth to be bothered with (and also the FOV is crap, heightens fear, but also irritation, reminding me of FPS' with perpendicular walls, those didn't age well :x ). Not a runner myself, just curious about technicalities is all. Too bad the PC version has been canned, it'd have been more flexible, and maybe it'd be easier to find the answers sought :(
Windows is shutting down
