V.G.Custom (problem!)

Postby myloch » Wed Mar 02, 2016 12:05 pm

I temporarily uploaded a japanese fighting game here

The bastard always nags for the game trying to run in one resolution while my screen is trying to force to be another resolution. This happens even on an old win98se real machine with s3 virge card!

Usual crappy japanese programming :x

Warning! The game includes hentai scenes

haha try to jump/transition yourself to Megaupload , with an easy trick i can reprogram that link and get into your main folder and see the whole file structure ... so what is in FU.CK1NGHALO

Did you tried DxWnd ? it can force resolutions
Code: Select all
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/files/Latest%20build/

I'm confused: wasn't this always supposed to be like that? Starting from a 4shared link, I always managed to see other files and directories of the same account.

Yep you can circumvent that resolution problem with dxwnd, various sprites however still look like messy palette crap. I had a similar problem with another game and it only worked correctly in win98/ME

Any idea if it uses an older version of DirectX? Because I found a program that seems to help with games that requires or used earlier versions of DirectX such as DIrectX6, it's a program known as dgvoodoo that seems to be a workaround for those kind of issues, since you did mention graphical issues I would suspect it has to do with older versions of DirectX. It's the same one in my thread earlier about a possible alternate fix for the AvP PC 1999/Gold game. Maybe you can try it and see if that makes a difference for this game.

Unluckily dgvoodoo2 didn't fix the problem.

no , when you post a link to a file, it should be a link to a file ... not your whole sub cloud structure ... its like you would make a FTP and make people see only this folder as your whole drive ... but suddenly they can bypass it and see your whole HDD

hmm " various sprites however still look like messy palette crap" like in Diablo 1 when you played it on WinXp/Vista/win7 ... did you tried the Diablo fix ... it should be in DxWnd

Now I see...not really paranoid about that but it should be fixed now.
By the way I saw other 4shared accounts with that problem on Lw...

About the game, "diablo fix" is a different problem (color corruption in win7, explorer.exe problem) and dxwnd doesn't work.
I found an interesting page that explains how ingame sprites work (http://jeff.sandwich.net/vgctutorial/vgctut.html)
There's definitely something wrong with the color palette...

Brutal solution here: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=42950

If some of you know a good and fast method to change these files (or a detailed tutorial), I can do a patch and fix this shit once and for all.

From vogons thread, sounds like it has lots of issues. I'm tempted to find out why this is failing.

I saw palette files and they are really small, however there are many of them (probably more than one for each character), I wonder if there's a tool out there to automate the editing process.

In my case, the game worked perfectly using WIN 7 64 Bits.

Yes, without problems (video, sound, music) all perfect.
I recommend using a joystick/gamepad, with the keyboard it becomes a bit difficult to play.

what's your pc hardware, if I can ask?
apparently you are in strict minority, it's a well known problem and you are the first one that got it working perfectly "as is".
