Half Life: Opposing force

Postby bytespawn » Fri Apr 01, 2005 3:32 pm

I got OF from 3DSL but I can't seem to run this game...
I unrarred it good, followed some instructions, and now it's says I'm ready and I should be able to play the game by starting HL.exe, but there isn't a file called like that!!!

Opposing force is actually an half-life expansion. You must install it over the original hl files to make it work.

Are you sure? I saw two versions of Opposing force: A 200 MB version, and a 30 MB version, the 30 MB version had the info next to it: Half Life 1 required. So I assumed the 200 MB version was a standalone. Another fact why I thought it was a standalone is because I have Half Life:Blue shift (the other SP expansion set for HL) on a cdrom, but I don't need HL1 to be able to play it.

Blue Shift is stand-alone but opposing force isn't. The 30mb version is the level demo that requires the original game, the 75mb version in green is also the level demo but it's standalone and the 75mb full demo is the complete game that requires the original.

I got opposing force included on my Blue Shift CD-ROM. Did the original release of Opposing Force come with audio CD tracks?

Since Opposing Force came out a year or so before Blue Shift, it came on its own CD-ROM which is what you appear to have. When I bought Blue Shift a while back, it had Opposing Force on it, but I assume the audio tracks on the CD-ROM are for Blue Shift and not Opposing Force.

Mine was just the plain Blue Shift retail box.
