Oregon Trail II on 64 bit Windows.  Topic is solved

Postby sleeper0993 » Sun Jul 31, 2016 4:22 pm

I downloaded the special edition of Oregon Trail II.

The game won't install by just running setup on a 64 bit machine.
If you try you'll get an error message about the game not being
able to run on your system. To get it to run:

Look in the archive for the cd folder and then mount the iso.
or burn the iso to cd and then mount it.

On your hard drive, create an empty folder (ex. ORTRAIL2)
Open the mounted cd and open the DATA folder.
copy everything in the data folder to the folder
you created (ORTRAIL2 in the example).
Navigate to that folder and open the file OREGONII.INI
Edit the line rsrcpath=d:\data
and replace d:\data with ORTRAIL2 (my example)
Also, change the line with 'music' from off to on.

The game won't need the cd anymore.
To start the game run OTII32.exe
If you get a blank screen (black)wait 7-10 seconds
and then left-click within the game Window with the mouse and the game will start.

Note: the game runs in a small window. To run it full screen,
left click on the file OTII32.exe, choose Properties,
left-click on compatability, then check 640x480 resolution.
Start the game, close file explorer and any other open
windows, until you get the game screen or the black screen. Again, wait
7-10 seconds and the game should start; this time in full
screen mode.
