Muppet Treasure Island - help pls!

Postby divingbeneath » Mon Apr 02, 2018 7:13 pm

Hi everyone!

This is my first post, so please be gentle...

I'm not very experienced in downloading old games, I apologise. Would somebody be able to explain to me like I'm 5 years old as to how to make this game work? http://legendsworld.net/adventure/game/4361 - the version uploaded by ScaryFun.

I've downloaded the zip file and played around with it, but can't figure out how to get the thing installed and actually playing. Help gratefully received as I'm desperate for some Muppet nostalgia!

I'm running Windows 7, and I can get the first opening screen, but when I press 'Play' nothing ends up loading...

UPDATE: Okay, so I unzipped all the files and it looked like it installed properly. I run the EXE file from the C drive and I get the opening screen. But as above, I click Play, which closes the first window and loads the game itself, but then nothing ever opens. I've tried running it in 98 compatibility mode with 256 colours as it requires... where am I going wrong? The actual game data seems to be missing...

Thanks :)

Says here that it won't run on 64-bit operating systems - https://www.amazon.com/Muppet-Treasure- ... B0015P9Z4G
So, you'll have to run it on Windows 98 or XP.

There's ways to do it by running a virtual o/s like through VirtualBox - http://www.legendsworld.net/phpBB3/view ... nxp#p68901
then grab either the win98 or XP downloads from that topic in our forum.

Thanks ScaryFun - I'm currently running it on a Windows 98 os through Virtual Box, but I'm still getting exactly the same situation occurring, any ideas? Do I need to replace any files somewhere with ones downloaded?

Did you run it in 256 color SVGA (640x480) mode?
Also, there's Indeo video driver that should be installed from the game cd.
