Tomb Raider

Postby froglet » Sun Apr 17, 2005 11:30 am

Hi all!,
Has anyone managed to successfully download/run the full demo of Tomb Raider (original from here)?.....
The first site (Kmzpub) resulted in a 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' message after clicking on the FTP download link
The 2nd site (Fajnegry) resulted in a page full of gibberish after attempting to download the rar file
The 3rd site (via Scaryfun) looks more promising but is a series of rar files. Do I need to download all of them, and has anyone tested the game successfully after un-raring? (I'm on dial-up so it would take me quite a while).

Thanks everyone

Yeah the rip that Scaryfun uploaded runs perfectly...if you have winxp you will need Glidos to run it in 3dfx mode and vdmsound i think... :)

Excellent! Thanks for this, NeoRAGERx. I shall have a go for this one.

I'm using Win98 SE so hopefully things will be ok..... :)

you may also want to try dgVoodoo as well.

although it can be confusing if you dont like fiddling with various settings, at least its free.

Sorry to bring back an old topic but..

I have recently downloaded Tomb raider 1.. (and 4) both dont seem to work =\

Tomb raider 1 basically refuses to start, I've used "dgVoodoo1.40plus" glide emulater (vdd off as I am using ATI graphics card), and that didnt work.

I sucked down Glidos and well, it says "Wrong version of TOMB.exe see the installation instructions"

Now I cant figuire out how to get this to work, I've tried the "tomb fix" which comes with the download but still the same respons.

And for tomb raider 4, I can get into the game but the textures refuse to show up and it is really dark, Could it be direct x? do I just run the game straight off?

Sorry if this is annoying but I love them games :), and I thought bringing back this old topic would be better then making a new one.

Thanks in advanced,

Edit: I also tried the VD sound thing for tomb raider (original) with dgVoodoo still the same problem.. Opens up then goes back to desktop, I think it might be the FMV files? but the fix still comes with the same problem (even tho it says it basically rips all the fmv's out)

Tomb Raider 4 has the hi-res textures riped so use tomb4.exe (or whaterver the name of the *.exe is) and add -setup...ie: tomb4.exe -setup and unselect hi-res textures or whatever is there (and fmv's :)...as for tomb 1 i don't know what might be cuz i play it on a genuine voodoo card so it works well. Hope this helps you. :D
