Kao The Kangaroo

Postby Melissa178123 » Wed Jan 15, 2020 1:58 am

I installed the game as usual (and the patch as well). But this happened:

I tried to load it and...

KAO Error
ZBuffer Clear failed: DDERR_UNSUPPORTED.

I'm using WinXP SP3

Can anyone help me out?

It'd be useful to know which video card or onboard video chipset you are using (along with which driver version (amd/ati, nvidia, intel)). But it seems that the video drivers (maybe?) don't support the function ZBuffer Clear. Could be useful to try playing it with DxWnd.

Code: Select all
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

Although the info about which operating system you are using is appreciated :), it isn't enough information in this case.

For me it runs with dxwnd which I linked above on my normal opsys (Win7x64). I just used the default settings of dxwnd. (Note: It failed to run on my WinXp Pro vm, with the exact same error you are struggling with.)

To use dxwnd: unpack it to a folder such as dxwnd, run dxwnd.exe, drag kao.exe to its window and click on the Try button at the bottom of the dxwnd configurator.
