Problem running The Terminator (1991) DOS Game FPS

Postby Joeyxp2 » Sat May 28, 2005 11:56 pm

I tried downloading the file from here and then I unzipped it after typing in the password needed to unlock it. I am trying to run with DOSBox and none of the files work under DOSBox. I tried install but then it just exited. I then tried game.exe and term.exe and this time I had to wait several seconds and it was frozen and dark and it closed again. I need some help on getting this to run. Thanks.

runs fine under dosbox 0.6.3 for me, you need to start game.exe or something manually....

all other EXE/COM files will crash dosbox.

only in game, it freezes sometimes. dunno why..

How do I set up sound and why does it keep quitting when I selecting symbols for the terminator? Is this a problem with the file here itself meaning if I were to get a proper version it would work or is it just that it is incompatible with DOSBox? I don't know really because this game is not in the compatibility list. I can't set up sound because install.exe does not work.

you don't need to setup sound, since it is already defined compatible to DosBOX. the problem with quitting at the symbols/copy protection didn't happen when i tried. are you using 0.6.3? maybe tinkering with the CPU type might help (full/dynamic)

But it keeps freezing at that screen and I don't know what to do. I can't get sound either because DOSBox requires to set up sound with the game everytime with the ingame setup in order for the sound to work and so there is still no sound. What are your settings? Can you tell them to me so I can use them? I have already switched between full and dynamic but the game still freezes at that point.

The thing is I don't know what to do at the symbol screen. I can still move the cursor but which one should I choose and what button so the game doesn't freeze?

Exactly what I tried but then it froze and DOSBox exited. Yeah, I pressed enter at the symbol screen and it just sort of stopped responding and before I knew it just exited out. I have already tried increasing CPU cycles but that did not help.

hmm. i would recommend getting some older version of Connectix Virtual PC (or the new MS one) and install DOS.... there it should work for sure.... only it freezes sometimes. but it should get into game perfectly....
