I remember trying Magical Dress Up and Dollhouse but don't remember seeing protection. Could be basic cd check lurking (if CD not mounted). Will add these to the list for inspection.

As for this game we talked about earlier
Disney/Pixar's Learning 2nd & 3rd Grade
https://legendsworld.net/adventure/game/16649

crack + no-cd: http://www.bwass.org/bucket/bz23_ncd.rar (new!)

It is just 1 game but it's so big that 2 discs are needed -- CD1 for installing and CD2 for playing. It was Securom 4 un-protected but for those who want a portable version, a no-cd conversion was added to the package (cd check removed). No problems with Win10.

Also worth noting that 2nd-3rd grade game is the Space Ranger theme against the Zerg; there's a different 2nd grade only game that takes place in Andy's room and has the Toy Story theme.

indeed, yes, that other grade 2 one was bundled with a 1st grade 1 as Disney Pixar Learning 1st Grade at some stage

so Castle Designer and Royal Horse Show...must be protected (or not)

These ones came back as:
- Castle Designer = basic cd check (startup)
- Royal Horse Show = basic cd check (startup)
- Buzz Lightyear 2nd grade = basic cd check (startup)

All have been patched out but waiting testing on different OS for problems. I'll post everything (and more?) as a batch when the 98 and 10 machines are not being used.

A hacker I spoke with says that asking for a CD is copy protection - it prevents people from installing the game and then giving it to someone else like on a BBS. One could make a backup CD (iso, bin) which easily defeats problem but it still counts as DRM. Then she went into the technical and described how some (emulated) drives can be misdetected and fail the check; some may not have a drive at all and don't have admin rights to install virtual software; it's a nuisance to swap out CDs if you want to have lots of things ready; Thinstall was a problem that blocks hackers from fixing things; or it's just a nicety to not have the stupid thing to bother you in the first place. And there's the off-one chance that you're a contractor who has to remove the protection to sell it on Steam or GOG.

For me, phew. I'll just document and distribute what comes my way. Of which:
Cinderella Dollhouse 1 = basic cd check, but Qt4 could a compatibility problem
Cinderella Dollhouse 2 = basic cd check (defeated)

(*) basic cd check just means the easy, stupid ones. If file exists, you can play. I think we gone through all the (Disney) Securom ones, although I'm told that some unprotected exes still have Securom inside but disabled (ideally they should be completely cleansed and removed).

Buzz 1st and 2nd grade aren't Securom, as with Castle Designer - Horse Show - Dollhouse - Dress Up - Treasure Planet - Jungle Book - (most Disney CD games). If you mount a iso / bin, that game should pass the CD check. Some reportedly have bad luck and still fail (never to me though).

EDIT: I'm assuming there's no high priority ones left as remaining ones can be run with iso mounted? (except for BBC Little Robots)

EDIT2: Creating a master list on post #3. Royal Horse Show runs okay everywhere, the others surprisingly have problems on Win 10.

like i said in another Fimbles Fimbly Fun isn't copy-protected, someone told me most Disney games from 2001 onwards have copy-protection (except for some), there's no other ones for now (but if you see any on my archive.org (memoriesofthedaize) then let me know)

For QT games on WIn10 you should use QuickTIme Alternative
Code: Select all
https://www.techspot.com/downloads/104-quicktime-alternative.html
it brings back QT compatibility with all games that worked on QT and Marcomedia QT Director

It asked me for a CD but didn't care if it's not genuine.
