this game is not meant to be played in windows, except win95 exe, which does NOT work on 2000/XP.

try dosbox or virtualpc

Yeah, I used to try to get that game to work on DOSBox or Win XP but it came out useless since the game simply didn't want to work. It looks like the only way to do it, is make a dual-boot or something since it seems to be that only Win-ME and Real DOS can run the game.

that is just nonsense. it works in dosbox quite well. and otherwise you can always use VirtualPC with DOS on it. no dualboot required.

Well I don't know about recently but I remember trying to get the game to work a few months ago on DOSBox but it got stuck on the main screen. If you did get it to work could you tell me the steps? Or are you just using the DOSBox CVS?

Actually the HOTU powerslave rip is bugged. It doesn't work at all in DOS or Windows 9x!

And if it does work, there's lots of video probs

the only way I got it to work at all is by starting a Cooperative game in setup.

That's exactly where I downloaded my Powerslave but I don't think it really matters because I also tried downloading from French Kiss Abandonware with no success. I don't think it's bugged since if you were right that would mean both French Kiss and Underdogs Powerslave games must have been bugged. Any idea where I can find a working version then?

I think I already tried setting with all four cores with Powerslave but I don't remember.

Choppy frame-rates

Postby Joeyxp2 » Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:34 am

Thanks, loki! I did exactly what you said and it worked! Now, I would like to know how to make the game run more smoothly. I have already tried increasing cpu cycles but the game still ran choppy.

this is because DOSBox needs a quite fast PC. in your case it would be easyer to install VirtualPC, set up a DOS partition with the drivers and play it in there, which will be fast enough in most cases.
