Running Shrak for Quake

I'm trying to run the Shrak mod for Quake but to no avail. I unziped the files into the Quake(r) directory and executed the file SHRAK.BAT, just like the manual says but I still can't get the game to work. The manual says that, after you run the bat file you start Quake "with the Shrak experience", but I only see Quake. What should I do?

Do a Google search for "DarkPlaces" (without the quotes of course).

I don't get it. DarkPlaces seems to be just another Quake mod. How does that help me run Shrak? :?

make a floder named "Shark"
place the addon there
then make a .txt file with this info in it :

Code: Select all
Quake.exe -game Shark


rename the .txt to .bat
and run the bat file , simple :wink:

Quake.exe is for DOS and Win9x.

Darkplaces is a fresh QUake engine that's compatible and looks damn good

http://www.icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces

then run liek

darkplaces -game shrak

I edited my [bat] to read like this:

darkplaces.exe -width 800 -bpp 32 -game shrak -shrak

It works great for me...

Badass...did you dl DarkPlaces and unzip it to your QUAKE directory and get it to run just regular QUAKE ok? If so it should run Shrak no problem.

I haven't downloaded DP yet. For some reasons I can't connect with the server, I'll wait a few days.
