Suggestion for forum - a help thread for dumb questions like this :P
___________________________________________________________________
Just have a little knowledge of reg files and need help with something.

Is there a way to force a game to read from the install dir and not a cd

here's the reg file

Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Melbourne House]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Melbourne House\Krush, Kill 'n' Destroy Xtreme]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Melbourne House\Krush, Kill 'n' Destroy Xtreme\1.00.000]
"GamePath"=".\"
"DriveLetter"="E"
"MinimumInstall"=dword:00000000

What I want to do is force the Driveletter=E part to read from the installed dir and not the cd - is there a way to do this - I can make the cd path a HD drive and just have the seperate dirs on root of it and it works but I want to be able to have it read from the rip dir Instead.

Any help would be great guys

thkx

Did you try using a nocd crack? On Tomb Raider games you have to copy the cd content to the install dir when using a nocd... maybe this helps a little :)

an idea would be to set "DriveLetter" to e.g. "V"
and then run a batch before the games start which mounts e.g. "./cddata" as V...:
Code: Select all
subst V: .\cddata
game.exe // name of exe file
subst V: /D

this is reeealy dirty, but works....

It's a rip so yeah it's cracked - I'm trying to make addons for it - like audio and intro/outro but these are kept on cd during install :unsure:
