Just as it says you need to remove unneccesary programs from autoexec.bat, also you could replace mouse and cdrom drivers from M$ with another ones, which took up less memory.

Not sure how helpful Virgil suggestion will be, Win98 doesnt have legacy mouse/cdrom driver entries in the autoexec/config by default, and doesnt sound like =D= knows how to edit this properly anyway.

I'd suggest using DOSBox really, but if you're running Win98 I'd guess you don't have a fast enough computer for DOSBox.

Otherwise proably try a bootdisk to dos mode, easier to control the memory without messing up your Windows config.
I made and used this Bootdisc years ago when I still used Win98, has a simple menu with a few mem/cd options and tells you how much memory each option should leave you. Can probably find better bootdiscs online, but this aught to work ok. Run the exe with a blank floppy disc in drive to have it write the image to it.

I remember, what this game was working with DosBox without any problems on my Celeron 1.7GHz.

Maybe I forgot something... last time I use 9x was 2 years back, now I have Win XP + Dos 7.1.
