Postby The_Joker » Sat May 13, 2006 1:49 am

I've trying to play TES: Arena (The CD version) but i have some problems... again :P
I set the installation dir, i configure the digital & Midi Drivers, and when i try to play, i get this message:

"MSCDEX driver not installed."

I can't start the game... it just "crashes".
I am not very good in this things, so i hope you can help me ^_^'

What version of Windows are you using? Arena is a DOS game and should be played in DOS. If you are using WinXP you can try creating a shortcut and enabling DOS in the shortcut properties menu. Open the game folder and right click the game executable. Choose create shortcut. Right click the shortcut and open the compatibility tab. I've never tried it myself but a friend of mine says you can enable DOS compatibility that way. Of course it still might not work. You could also try DOSBox.
 :?

Yep... i try DosBox... but the screen goes black just before the game starts. I think DosBox does not run the CD ver.

Arena's not a prob on my 3200. Just run it in dynamic core with auto cycles and you'll be able to enjoy it at maximum detail.

Liamoneal, it is hard to say, on my Athlon 3800 I need to increase cycles up to 16000 to run Arena with decent speed.
