Sea Dogs and GeForce 4 MX440

Postby n0n0 » Sun Sep 03, 2006 12:36 am

Hi :) ,

It was a big disappointment to me when I found out that Sea Dogs not working properly with GeForce 4 MX440 (actually MX440SE-T).
Quick googling confirmed that I'm not the only one with the same problem.
Heavily crippled graphics processor from nVidia is not able to show proper 3D graphics in this game :( .

So, if you have one MX440, my recommendation to you will be: check the net before you download (or purchase) a game, especially if youi're a slow connected guy like me. This is just one of the games not working with that GPU :-x .

Greetings :D ,

Well if today's games suck so bad then he shouldn't need to worry about cards that support shaders.

What's so special about 67.xx drivers, Narfous?
I mean, did you manage to run Sea Dogs properly using those drivers and MX440?

:D
It's working.

What a stupid actually I was :x .

After checking a list of games using various shaders at wikipedia.org, I found out that Sea Dogs is not on the list.
Then I checked my GPU's Quick Installation Guide and found this:

MX440SE-T
...
- Integrated second-generation Transform and Lighting engines
...
- nVIDIA Shading Rasterizer with 24 of 26 DX8 pixelshading functions...

I figured out that drivers (77.72 installed at that moment ) must be the reason why game not working properly.

An old graphics card, and an old game, simply require an old driver!!! Checked several of them and 30.82 is working on my Win98se without any problems.

So, Sea Dogs working well on MX440SE-T :P !!!
