Hello!

Is Kiss Psycho Circus only D3D able? Or is there a way to play it with OpenGL  ? And when, how?

as far as i know, it is using a heavily modified Blood 2 (or later) engine and those were always either software or D3D. and Kiss Psycho Circus didnt have software mode if i remember correctly.

D3D is your only choice in that game, sorry :|

I think you are lucky if it runs at all, it is very buggy,
even with the patches ( i played it a while ago thanks
to 3dsl :)
It crashed alot and there were several graphical errors,
too bad because it´s a great game.

Hello!

Thanks for your replies! I habe the ISO and it seems not to have a software mode, you're right xeon! Hoped, that eventually there is a way, for a not supported mode, but it works well with D3D.
@ FReeK! Seem's, that I'm really lucky, I've played and tested the game on a win98 system, without crashes. Now I'm playing it on winxp (i have to apologize for my thread in the old (german) forum, where I wrote, that it's not working with win2k and winxp (I think I've tried a wrong cd :D )) and it works ok, although D3D. But I've played never the RIP version, so maybe only there are problems?
Has/had somebody else problems with it?

Sandon: yes i played the rip, but while searching
for a reason why it crashed, i found some info which
said the patches didn´t help it much.
Btw i have a nvidia gforce card.

I think the patches fixed primarily multiplayerproblems.

In year 2000 I had an ati-rage and voodoo2 card (win98) and no probs.
Now I have a geforce4 ti, played the first chapter without crash (but sometimes it's to slow (1024*768), that was the reason, why I asked for opengl).

The game was made from the group who done before daikatana and get fired by John Romero, because he said, they don't want to work. The managed it to do the Kiss game in one year and it's a lot better I guess as the buggy and often stupid Daikatana. Kiss Psycho Circus lost some players because of the Kiss thing, I think. But it's cool, with cool enemies and nice design. The enemies are stupid, but it's ok, because they are a lot and monsters are often stupid. Look at the screenshots and if you think you can have fun with those enemy creatures, download it. Some Kiss songs are played, but only if you use a jukebox (some stay around in the game) and in the cathedral (without jukebox).
Most of it and a bit more, I wrote in the review, that's sadly still in german.
