Postby grupof0091 » Fri Feb 02, 2007 7:00 pm

Hi, my question (and the question of others) is to know which games that are on legendsworld are VISTA Compatible and which not. And will you gonna re-rip some games for VISTA?....i have some more questions but for now i want t know these.... :o

None.

Some of them may happen to work, I wouldn't know which. But none of them are strictly "Vista Compatible" as they all predate it.
I think compatability is likely to be even more hit and miss than with XP, as Vista moves yet further away from older codebase and driver support.
You can of course try emulation and virtualization such as DOSBox and VPC.
Compiling a list is unlikely to be a worthwhile endeavor as even then it will be subjective to peoples competence and experience and the differences of their system.

The question of "re-rip"s of any games is fairly meaningless. Most of the rip's on LW are not made by the people that support it, and most of the games will never get "Vista Compatible" patches that would deem any "re" worthwhile.

Will DOSBox work on Vista? I know Virtual PC is coming out with a Vista version and with it you can run DOS, Win98, and WinXP on it from this app.

 and i thought i heard Billy´s voice vispering that Vista will be 99% compatible with old games and software realised through a very good emulator....that seems to be a marketing rumour for customers to buy Vista

future of legacy games

Good question. Got any more good questions? Seriously from all I've been able to find out it will be a simple matter of whether or not the publishers want to support them. Don't hold your breath. Most publishers don't want to support brand new games. It's beginning to get to the point where you need three computers. One for DOS. One for XP and one for Vista. Except of course for those like me who think Vista is broken out of the box because of the integrated DRM that can't be removed or turned off.

That will work 8)

I also love to use VMDSound but it seems the launchpad also won't work in Vista. One of my personal solutions I use is a multi-boot system. I currently run Vista Ultimate for almost everything, a very stripped XP on 4 GB Partition for use with games (Working like a train). And also a small repair WinPE system on a 200 mb partition.

As Vista uses alot of system power itself Virtual PC 2007 will run much slower, so I don't recommend this useage unless you really have a powerfull machine.

Maybe the solution is to make a partition for every OS.
1 for DOS
1 for Win98 and
1 for Win XP.
Anyway i think people is not so convinced about update to Vista due to their cynical restrictions. Things don't paint so well for old gamers.....
