"ya, I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to play aliens online with other people or if this is just a single player version"

i guess, if somebody has server, then he can make this game online?

That Gamestorm service no longer exists.

I found some info before on this playing team's site - there's still some people posting on old boards section too.

Someone mentioned there that an AvP2 mod of Aliens Online is still being worked on, but it may be dead. http://mods.moddb.com/139/

I also read someone suggested because game ran on Doom engine that it may be possible to run it on jDoom or another port.
