If I had those original files, a movie addon should be no big deal :D

you really *could* transcode them from your PSX version... but that would be somewhat dirty, meaning loss of quality and long winded method...

i think it is better to wait for someone to provide the original PC movie files...

I have games that have DivX movies (system shock 2 comes to mind) and the game runs fine :)

Sure there would be need to modify some dlls and stuff to make such games run with divX movies. Also the sys requirements would be a lot higher since decoding DivX isn't just as "easy" as mpeg -> Needs more RAM and such.

Well.. that's a problem, isn't it?

If someone would supply them, well... I would give a compressed movie addon a try.

if a game uses activemovie supplied by windows, simple divx-ing should work. if the game uses its own mpeg/avi-decoder or checks for fileinfo, you can forget it....

the movies are compressed with Intel Indeo, however, the approach youre saying, i think, works. im just not really sure of it since i never tried. boy, do i wish i have broadband :(

(edit)
RE3 uses DXMedia for movies whereas RE2 (and Dino Crisis if anybody cares :P), like i said earlier, uses Intel Indeo.

DivX-ing would need u to install the codec and an mp3 codec that's all no other stuff to play the game...and i think RE2 doesn't have it's own decoding dlls and shtuff, it's indeo if i remember cuz it has an option in the autorun to install it....dammit searching CDs is a lot of pain :\
