Strategy games often entail the construction of buildings in order to secure victory in scenarios. Commandos decided to do something radically different. In favor of building, you infiltrate.
Using an overhead third person perspective, you control a select group of commandos as they infiltrate, kill, sneak, and sabotage the plans of the third reich and secure assured victories for the allied powers.
Being a Fallout fan, I felt quite at home with this mix of adventure, action, and strategy.
I must digress, that I can certainly see the first four Commando games up on the Adventure Legends list if only because they felt more along the lines of tactical RPG gaming that Fallout Tactics tried to imitate years later. Though, considering Commandos: Strike Force is already on the 3D Shooter Legends list, it seems quite a shame not to compliment that with the first few games. After all, I'm still getting over the shock that they choose to make the series into a third person shooter rather than continuing the epic like tactical adventure games they had done before.
Here's the basic bare essentials for some Adventure Legends entries.

Commandos: Beyond The Call Of Duty - http://www.mobygames.com/game/commandos ... ll-of-duty
Commandos 2: Men Of Courage - http://www.mobygames.com/game/commandos ... of-courage
Commandos 3: Destination Berlin - http://www.mobygames.com/game/commandos ... ion-berlin
No real need to go anywhere else for screenshots and the like, since Mobygames seems to have all that covered.
Again, here's hoping I see these games get their own entries on the Adventure Legends site. Heck, Grom: Terror In Tibet's got similar gameplay and it's on the list. Can't see why these games should be neglected.
