Other websites like 3D SHOOTER LEGENDS

Postby thornberry » Wed Nov 24, 2004 7:55 pm

Hello Friends,

Do any one know about other websites from where games belonging to other genres like CAR RACING, 2D PLATFORM, RPG etc. are available for download.

I have collected old games like DUKE NUKEM 2D, PRINCE OF PERSIA 1 & 2, RAPTOR, TYRIAN, BLACK THORNE, ABUSE etc.

These are old dos-based games which are still great fun to play.

Please help, thank you.

of course not, another working site is always better than nothing, however slow it can get. its just that its amazing for an abandonware site to actually live that long considering abandonware isnt really legal at all.

well i never said it was always slow, but it DOES get real slow at times (busy days or a few days/weeks after an update) whether you admit it or not (cause even the site itself admits it).

and god, how could ive forgotten DJs site, the one that introduced me to a couple more sites :x :x

kmzpub.ru is not bad either ... if you can stand its extremely slooooooow downloading speeds and the obligation to use a good download manager. they've got a nice selection of good oldiez though - but it is a pity that the site is in russian only ... i'm good enough at english and french - but do they really expect people to understand every dialect in europe, or so ?

about kmzpub
1) i think he did it for russian users and just for fun.
probaly he dont want to do something big for everyone around the world or have no time for translations.
who found that site, should adapt to this (indeed i dont see anything to espacial translation, you just go to search, type title whay you are interested, click on it from the list, and choose "(download)" link.
2) you can always use online web translator like this one:
http://www.translate.ru/url/tran_url.as ... bmit2.y=11
(this link is in Independent Software search engine at kmzpub comments)
Web is load into translator server, then from there to you in English and changed links directly to translator.

i see your point, DJ and who am i to ruin this guy's fun, eh ? i admit that reading text on a website in another language than english (ok, or french - but not too often) makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, though ... i'm never sure that what i download is indeed what i'm after. and as far as traductions, go ... well i'll have to look into that since i have never tried that option over at independent soft.

besides, when monitoring the download that i'm having off kmzpub.ru at this very minute i must say the speed happens to be quite reasonable since this morning (on average around 1Kb and holding). maybe traffic is lower than usual, but it suits me fine since i'm not in a hurry anyway. if kmzpub.ru's site boss should be reading this : no offence, i hope - keep up the good work, son.

one last word of warning to you all : watch out for FISH ! fish are nasty! fish are trouble ! you can tell by the look in their eyes.

not only abandonware, oldwarez too ;P
for newwarez, i suggest http://urnews.dl.am/ (suchen section) or easywarez.com (at least).
old games are not really big problem, there are many ways to run any o them on newest systems.
for example... there are good dos/sound/gfx emulators.
of course... if you like old stuff, has computers from many years or just sentiment... ;)
