FBI!

Postby Liamoneal » Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:03 pm

The Fibbies started fanning out all over the good old USA today but at this juncture they appear to be after illegal music downloaders. A buddy of mine got busted with over six thousnad mp3's. Once he made bail he called everyone he knows to warn them. I honestly don't know why I was on the list since I don't do mp3's but for what it's worth ...........................

Liamoneal, could you tell us by which means he has been traced ? there's a big debate and several lawsuits going on in the states : organisations like the riaa insist that isp's must give a downloader's name and address on their simple demand, thus without being told to do so by courts order.

it would be interesting to know by which means the fibbies got their information ... that they full-time monitor al downloads on the whole of the 'net would be a scaring thought.
does my status as a super member come with a free supply of bier-und-schnapps ?

Kazaa and a nationwide trading group.

Postby Liamoneal » Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:42 pm

Kazaa was part of it but the guy I know was given up by a member of a nationwide trading group that he was a member of. They were mostly trading through the mail according to him.

If they are going to scan HTTP/FTP it would take them years to catch at least a couple hundreds of downloaders since those links are harder to scan. It costs them too much input, while the output is pathetic.
