Routine (TBD FPS) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:10 pm

SUMMARY

"Routine" is a first-person game that attempts to emulate the core gameplay of "System Shock 2" - A first-person survival horror game in a science fiction setting with modest RPG elements. Indications are that it will not follow the "Dead Space" format of more action-oriented shooter gameplay and that the enemies are more "Amnesia" 'avoid-them-if-you-can' caliber. Of course, these first impressions may not necessarily be accurate but game play videos have yet to dismiss them. The game has yet to be released.

Grim Dawn (TBD ARPG) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Sat Jul 20, 2013 4:13 pm

SUMMARY

GRIM DAWN is a... You know what, I'll let them explain it straight from their website -

Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game intended for digital distribution on the PC. It is being developed by veterans of Iron Lore entertainment, the makers of Titan Quest. Grim Dawn is being built with Crate's own improved version of the Iron Lore engine and toolset; the same technology used to create Titan Quest. As a spiritual successor, Grim Dawn will attempt to better perfect the magical formula of exploration, character advancement, and loot collection pioneered by Diablo.

There you have it. Right now, the game is in closed alpha playtesting. Early financial supporters of the company have been allowed to play an alpha version of the game.

I of the Dragon - (2004 TPS?/RPG?/RTS?) - Inclusion to site?

Postby Steve » Thu Jul 25, 2013 1:32 am

SUMMARY

I OF THE DRAGON (2004) - Stumbled upon this game through my many travels across the Interwebs. It is a hard game to pin down, being described in various places as a third-person shooter, a role-playing game and/or with real-time strategy elements. Not seeing it here at either Adventure or 3d Shooters, I am adding the prerequisite information here so that others more knowledgeable about this game can determine if it is worthy of inclusion somewhere here.

Nox (2000 ARPG) - Forum

Postby Steve » Sat Jul 27, 2013 1:36 pm

Thanks for the clarification.

Here's a forum (maybe the last one of it's kind) dedicated to the game NOX. It seems to have a lot of everything for those people interested in the game, including an amateur effort (now removed?) on an unofficial NOX 2.

Extensive Pirate-Themed Games Messageboard

Postby Steve » Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:54 am

SUMMARY

Here is an extensive pirate-themed games messageboard. It seems tilted towards Akella's pirate games but there are also a lot of other pirate games supported as well. This messageboard could be added as "Infos/mods" for a lot (all, possibly?) of the pirate-themed games listed here.

SUMMARY

Described as a "hardcore corridor shooter" and made with the Unreal Development Kit, this is a free first-person shooter from a Ukranian developer group called "BSL Team." It was released at various points in early August 2013. If you can read Ukranian, you can also visit their web site to learn more.

GEAR (2009 ADV-REL) - New Links

Postby Steve » Sat Aug 31, 2013 12:45 pm

GEAR (2009 ADV-REL)

*** Screenshots

REMOVE -

http://www.mobygames.com/game/browser/m ... creenshots - [Like the URL suggests, these are screenshots for MORNINGSTAR, an adventure game that has nothing to do with GEAR. I couldn't find a modern mobygames location for GEAR.]

REPLACE WITH -

https://www.digipen.edu/?id=1170&proj=8716 - [This is the Digipen webpage for the game. It contains 4 screenshots as well as the download link for the game.]

*** Infos

ADD -

http://b-lee.net/gear/ - [This appears to be the "official" site for GEAR (or, more accurately, GEAR: FULL CIRCLE, which is apparently a slightly revised version of the original Digipen offering). It contains a FAQ, soundtrack offering and other info. The download link suggests that only GEAR: FULL CIRCLE is available nowadays.]

Legend: Hand of God (2008/2007 A/RPG) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Mon Sep 02, 2013 7:23 pm

Legend: Hand of God (2008/2007 A/RPG) - New Game?

SUMMARY

"Legend: Hand of God" was developed by "Master Creating" (developers of the Action RPG of 2005's "Restricted Area"). It is considered a "Diablo clone" (aka "Action RPG") and is credited with being released in 2007 or 2008. Based upon Internet research, it looks like that this was the developer's last title and that they have since gone defunct and all of the initial official websites / forums for it.

UW1 & UW2 - Transfer from 3D Shooters over to Adv Legends?

Postby Steve » Sat Sep 07, 2013 1:51 am

I noticed recently that Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 are presently considered as First Person Shooters here in the 3d Shooters Legend area and not regarded as RPGs (as they are generally considered nowadays) that are in the Adventures Legend. Perhaps we ought to reclassify them as RPGs now that we have a dedicated section for RPGs in the Adventure Legends section?

I suppose so, though there are other titles that could also be moved like Alone In The Dark, Silent Hill and Resident Evil survival horror which are labelled adventures on most sites. There are also other rpgs on 3DSL, check the Fantasy genre in A-Z Index.

Here's a link to a blog post concerning the game SU-27 Flanker (1996 SIM) that contains links to an unofficial sound patch for Windows operating systems after Win98. There are other unofficial utilities for the game at that blog post as well. These could be useful for those who would prefer to play this game on modern OSes.
