While I already had the game working, this is damned good of you to post. However, I have something I'd like to post (because I used CCleaner and it messed it up and I had to fix it).
OpenAL 2.1.0.0
http://db.tt/dwAgUGrmWithout OpenAL properly installed, the game will simply give an error at launch.
Also, I recommend changing the FOV. The game's default FOV is around 60 or 65, which makes me VERY uncomfortable. Simply go into Documents --> Hour of Victory --> HOVGame --> Config, then open HOVInput.ini with Notepad or, what I recommend, Notepad++ [http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.7.5.html]. You're immediately looking at [Engine.PlayerInput], so scroll down to a good key, say, F8 and paste the entire following line in its place:
Bindings=(Name="F8",Command="FOV 95")
Feel free to change to FOV to whatever you desire and just press that button in-game (I think you need to do it once every mission). I'll give the game kudos that the in-game models actually acclimate to 95° really well, since they actually made complete gun models and a long arm model. The only real 'downside', if you can really even call it that, is that coming out of using iron sights will first snap back to the game's default FOV, then snap back into the FOV you set it to. It's a quick thing, but it is noticeable. With that said, it's not a big deal either, since using iron sights for anything that isn't a bolt-action rifle (either scoped or unscoped, though even unscoped rifles do well at anything other than long-range without needing to look down the sights) is completely and totally useless.
With that said, the game isn't actually very good, but it IS fun in its own way. Always pick Ross, though. There's literally no reason not to (and I'd like to take this opportunity to bitch about how annoying it is that you have to hear your character spout a line off every time you pick him, which happens every mission and every time you die. When I hit the button to select the character, just throw me into the damned game, I don't need to hear one of a few oft-repeated lines that sounds corny a billion damned times).
