In short: For preservation purposes - ISO will do for data-only stuff, but for mixed-mode BIN/CUE seems to be recommended everywhere (even though mounting those in emulators seems to haven't been polished out to this day - I've only seen a tip to try Alcohol 120% with SheepShaver), and even then one needs to select specific settings (which filesystem, mode, etc) to ensure maximum compatibility
And from what I've gathered, .toast is data-only and Mac's (or Disk Copy's, IDK) .img still hasn't been documented and reversed well enough for full usage on Windows (I only saw MacImage, but that only does ImgBurn Build, haven't found anything with ImgBurn Read
) and further usable contextual separation from CloneCD online
