Game index?

Postby Smiling Spectre » Fri May 08, 2020 2:26 pm

Today someone bring my attention to Big Bird's Special Delivery game. I tried to find it... and failed. While game is in the News, and definitely on the "1987" page, search page - http://www.legendsworld.net/adventure/alphabet? - returns zero occurence, with any list, even if I am trying to seek by year or letter.

That's bring up two questions:

1. Why this is possible? Is alphabet searcher needed to be filled manually, and Big Bird somehow squeezed through?

2. How frequent are such cases? I rely on this lists in my searches, and it's quite annoying thought to imagine that some games are missed for me, just because I rely on incomplete lists. :(

All good on my end - maybe fiddle with yer JavaScript settings on either the browser or whatever plugin that may restrict such a thing (most usually the ad-blocking kind)...

It comes up immediately for me, but I've since learned that using the full title is counterproductive on that particular search "engine". In this case I just used the term "big bird" and got it and only its listing. Not always the case if the term is one word or common words.

Works ok for me too. When a game entry is entered into the site's database, the A-Z Search Index will automatically pick up the title.
Try getting latest version of Java. Also your browser might be caching an old version of website? not sure...

It hardly can be java, blocker or something of this area - when I got empty results with direct search, I checked the year list and the alphabetic list - and they was empty too. (Not like "zero games empty" of course, simply "no big bird in list" empty).

But I refreshed the page now, and game is here indeed. *shrug* Well, "bad caching" looks like only explanation then, but game is long ago on site, right? And I opened this page (even if it never refreshed afterwards) about month ago...

Ok, as everything is ok now, let's mark it "weird thing" and let it be.

Thank you for the attention to the problem!

The Big Bird game was only added on May 7, the day before you checked...so it could have been a cache problem indeed.

It sometimes happens something similar to me too. If you have a videogame with long multiword title, searching for full title leads to nothingness. If you use some specific keywords, you find the game instead.
