S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl GSC Game World / Russobit-M, THQ 2007

On the 12th April, 2006 another disaster takes place near Chernobyl. Ostensibly the zone was used for experiments which went out of control. In 2008, 30 kilometers of the zone is blocked off all around the area. In it take place strange things and mutant creatures were sighted. In 2010 different parties penetrate into the area, mostly adventurers, the Stalker are called; they hope to find artifacts and to sell them for big profits. The game developers are portraying the surroundings around Chernobyl very realistically (with several fictitious facts, because the play is set in the future). The towns of Chernobyl and Pripyat can be investigated, as well as military and scientific arrangements (all the local population has more or less left). With NPC's you can communicate and artifacts are exchanged and sold, therefore it has some roleplaying elements. Special Collector's Radiation Edition of the game is limited to 17,777 units worldwide and contains: the game itself, special packaging, survival guide with detailed information about the factions, enemies and weapons, "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - Part I - Deathzone" - a book telling the background story to the game by Claudia Kern & Bernd Franz, bonus DVD with making-of movies, additional background on the real Tschernobyl zone, the official soundtrack, wallpapers and many more extras, map of the complete in-game zone, two exclusive multiplayer maps (Swimming Pool and Dark Valley) and four exclusive multiplayer skins (British, American, French and German military).
