This was an early access Russia-only, PC-exclusive free-to-play multiplayer game based on the Halo 3 engine. It's set on a secret UNSC space installation called Anvil, where Spartan-IV soldiers train together in war exercises to sharpen their battle skills and test experimental technology. Back in 2016 after a closed beta, development on the game was shut down and the game itself was shelved. However, Halo Online continued to survive outside of the control of Microsoft. Its code leaked in 2016, and determined fans built a modded version of it that allowed non-Russians to play it. Called ElDewrito, it featured player-hosted servers, stat tracking, and even emblem customization. It also contains a Forge mode where players can create custom maps. However, in 2018 with update 0.6, Microsoft has now declared that it has initiated legal action intended to prevent players from using Halo: Online's game files. |
