This is a re-edition of the Nintendo 64 version of the FPS (originally released in 1997) under the same title. The action of Doom 64 takes place after the events presented in the first two installments of the Doom cycle. After victorious battles with demons on the surface of Mars and Earth, mankind decided to deal with their nests on the moons of the Red Planet, that is, Phobos and Deimos. Globes were bombarded with powerful charges, but the radiation created at that time made it impossible for people to observe the effects of the project, and thus to notice that the offensive survived the mysterious existence, which brings back to life every dead envoy of hell he finds on his way. After the fact, a group of soldiers is sent to the place, whose task is to deal with the threat. However, the unit is murdered, and the only survivor is the hero in whom we play. From now on, it is on his shoulders that the mission, on whose success the fate of all humanity depends, rests. The action was shown from the first person perspective (FPP). The game consists of thirty-two extensive levels reminiscent of labyrinths. In addition to obtaining the keys and activating the switches opening the closed passages, during their travels we deal with the elimination of the hosts of terrifying enemies. Although the arsenal we use to kill enemies is well known for its earlier positions under the Doom sign, the appearance of its individual elements has undergone profound changes (for example, a mechanical saw with two blades rather than one). New is the weapon known as the Laser (or Unmaker), which shares ammunition with the cult BFG 9000; as we progress, we gain three ancient artifacts that allow us to amplify it significantly. Compared to the original, the re-edition of the game has not undergone any changes in the graphic design; the whole thing has only been adapted to operate in panoramic mode. It will be included as a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal. |
