arrghh, so close, have got it sort of running on win 10 (minus a mouse pointer :/ )

now, even with all the discs mounted on virtual drives it keeps saying insert disk 1....

OK, fixed the d3drm and now a whole host of graphics errors, maybe it's not meant to be, thanks for the help guys :~)

maybe, seems odd because the exact filename it says it can't find IS in the first disk, If I can find it why can't my PC??! :p
