Shock price advance series: Bowling

Postby myloch » Thu Sep 17, 2020 2:06 pm

Got a bunch of this rare shit by Sony. One of them is giving me headache. This one uses Macromedia Director version 8 engine and it really doesn't want to run here. Before doing proper dump of it, I uploaded a rip for testing only. Please refrain publicing it on main site.

If it runs for you, please share your rig configuration. Thanks bros.

Edit:
Well well... I tried running the shit in win98/ME compatibility mode and it now asked for Shockwave player 8. I found a downloadable standalone on oldversion.com and it now says "script error" when running. Totally broken mess. Keep testing...

It worked for me but in a strange way, first when I run the game it asks for a file, I have to choose "datafile.cxt" that is inside the "data" folder, then a warning appears multiple times (we must say yes several times), then it ask for the file again, we put the same "datafile.cxt" again, after all of this the game enters, and finally when we want to start a new game it gives us a warning several times, and again, we must choose yes and now finally we can play it without problems.

Here I leave a screenshot that I take:

If I run it *as is* it displays a warning in japanese (with yes/no selection) 2 times, if I press NO two times it quits, even if I click yes two times it hangs (black screen).
If I use the compatibility settings, it asks for shockwave player 8 first, and then, if you get it, it nags with english "script error" message 2 times... It does the same thing in 3 systems: one with Seven starter, one with Vista32 and even an Xp one.
Are you using a true japanese OS maybe?

No, I use Windows 7 64 bits (spanish version), try to put the game in a folder that does not contain special characters (for example "Bowl")

I changed locale from japanese to engrish and now the game doesn't install

But now the rip starts: it asks for a "multilink.cst" file that doesn't exist, even in the cdrom. If I chose a random file in the data dir and push yes when needed, it finally runs. 2P mode button triggers a japanese message and it doesn't work.
If I put multilink.cxt file from the cdrom into the data dir, it hangs with black screen.
