Websites with Game Patches?

Postby DJ Speedstar » Sat Apr 18, 2015 11:50 am

I am looking for websites with downloadable patches for games.
I see that websites with game patches for download are dying or started to not offer them anymore.
Most important are websites with:
- rare and oldest patches
- long time availability (since 90s or early 2000s)
- large list of downloads (more than just few titles)

Current list for game patches:
http://www.fileplanet.com/
http://www.patches-scrolls.de/
http://www.ag.ru/games/
http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/pc/patches/
http://www.gamefront.com/files/type/patches (download for USA IP only)
http://www.3dgamers.com/ (no more available)

Current list for old cracks:
http://megagames.com/game-content/fixes/all/all
http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/

Because such files are starting to be hard to find especially for very old games, so we started to index them for easy search:
http://www.oldgamesfinder.com/?q=&m=-38

Your help is very welcome.

Thanks.

another one:
http://www.angelfire.com/ex/internetserver/patches_and_updates.htm

not sure if the downloads are still working, but it might help with googling for names of files.

This one has a the Ultima 1.61 patcher and older versions and scans of old game manuals and guides.

What you could do is Google using the names of files from that site with the broken downloads and probably find some more websites with working links for old patches.

Also try Duckduckgo as you can get a lot of Russian sites or Eastern European sites that don't always show up in Google searches.

There's bound to be a lot of old game patches stored on some Eastern European sites.

Do some searches for German sites as they love adventure games :)

Thank you all for the response. Some of these sources have been added to search engine.
I found that http://www.ag.ru/games/ has some unique very old patches on the internet. I hope their website will stay long.

Yeh ,there's a few foreign sites if you can find them, that can have loads of obscure stuff.

Also i've been busy cataloging a load of promo/white label cds and vinyl and when i search in Google, details for some records don't exist .
I thought maybe the band/singer is not well known enough or something
But when i did same search in Bing i get a result at top of page.

So Bing can sometimes give you results when Google returns 'zero' in a search.

I just discovered this last night ,so I'll remember to use Bing a bit more now.

We live in positioning services era now and google is not as concrete as before.
Searching results belong to big companies who can spend much money.

Thank you for the tip about Bing.
I will check it out.

Regarding music you can find a lot of stuff on Discogs (that is if you don't know it already):

Well. I use both, Discogs and Rateyourmusic, because often there is something in one of them, which is not in other.

I've started listing some things on Discogs ,but it's a slow laborious process to list just one item.
You can tag your listed items 'for sale' or just add them to your 'collection'

I think Discogs takes a cut of anything you sell in their market place,
though someone's already contacted me about a Kasabian promo i listed even though i didn't put the 'for sale' tag on it.

Discogs seem to give you a more realistic idea of what something might be worth as opposed to Ebay .
It's difficult when you have a load of promo cds and vinyls and you have no idea of their value.

Thanks for the info about rateyourmusic too,i didn't know about that site.

Yes, they charge the seller an 8% fee per item.
