quake2 problem :(

Postby Caleb1983 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 3:33 pm

I've just downloaded quake2 (over 100 mb)... I dont know why but i cant chage any video settings. resolution and rendering mode can be only "320*200" and "software". OpenGL, 3dfxGL and higher resolutions aint work ;(.
What should i do?

I got Radeon9550 and 3dFX emulator (so i can run older games in 3dfx mode without any problem). I downloaded Quake 2 official demo (idsoftware DOT com) and everything works fine - I can chenge rendering mode and the resolution but only in this official demo, i can't change video settings in both ripped versions of quake 2 that are avaible on this site. The russian ripped quake 2 i've just downloaded is 640*480*3dfx by default, thats not bad but i cant change difficulty settings (only EASY)... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I wish there could be an ISO file availble here, these ripped games tend to be deprived of too many thingz ;(

Use "Default opengl" in options.

One thing more to do !

Delete some multiple drivers (like voodoo,or DX) out of the game directory... so only use one... (*.dll)

And check out if some of your datas are marked "read only"... every data should be open for writing!
