UT High Resolution Textures aprox 1211 Mb

Postby Diehard » Sun May 04, 2008 12:35 am

Hey all,

I stumbled over this site when i went over the links from www.celticwarriors.net and noticed some broken links.

The new site for the Unreal Tournament Retexturing Project (UTRP) is at www.unrealtexture.com

Downloads for the Low End S3TC textures:

Master Files Low End

Downloads for the High End S3TC textures:

Master Files High End

Packages are 100% netcompatible, and from time to time new updates are released.

Enjoy :)

There's something weird about these S3TC textures (the ones bundled with UT GOTY CD#2):
I installed them and everything looked great but the Skyboxes :o
Skyboxes were all messed up (I searched over the web and there were lots of people experiencing the same problem);
then, when I uninstalled these S3TC textures, skyboxes were back to normal...

I wonder if this new retexturing project will fix that bug.

BTW, thanks for the Info.

Unless new bugs apear, than the UTRP textures should have no bugs at all. And so far no-one reported bugs. (but if anyone finds them, please report them)

The UTRP S3TC textures contain ALL S3TC textures that were present on the 2nd CD and much more. All the bugs like Masking problems should have been solves as well as a bunch of misalignments, or plain ugly textures :)

Best way is to forget about the 2nd CD S3TC textures all together.

Install the 1st CD textures and the chaos textures from the 2nd CD and than overwrite those with the ones from the UTRProject.

The online skating player glitch, as it turns out this is a serversided problem, and server admins simply need to install the normal textures from the 1st CD + the chaos textures from the 2nd CD. (and dont run the so called S3TCfix, at best it doesnt fix anything on the new S3TC packages)

Effectivelly they all need to switch to the default normal textures and never have any S3TC file running on the server.

Do keep in mind to use the latest OpenGL, D3D8 or D3D9 renderer from cw dohnal

And after installing those, make sure to change UseS3TC to True in the advanced options.

Diehard, this OpenGL renderer you posted... Is it any better than
the one published by Daniel Vogel at Epic Games in 2002??

You're right guys, this OpenGL renderer works great!
I just can't believe it, such an old game and I still have tons of fun playing it.
(and its graphic engine still looks nice).

Now, some extra info (to take advantage of the new renderer & textures):
Here's collection of DM maps for UT (there are some for UT2K3 & 2K4) created by
one of the best mappers of the community: Angelheart.
Some of these maps are actually classics:

Hey guys, just read Chris Dohnal's page, as linked by Diehard, about that OpenGL/D3D renderer and noticed that he also developed a version for Deus Ex.

Has any of you tried this? What kind of improvement would we be talking about as I am not too familiar with this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance

And renderers for Rune :)

I asume those renderers will also fix things, like wrong Masking, fixed crashes and such. Apart from that, it will also add more options that werent there in the original renderers, not to mention that nowadays cards have tons more options that need activation from the renderer to make use of those.

Therefore i can only asume they will improove the games dramatically :)

Allright then. I guess it's time to download Deus Ex GOTY and give this brilliant piece of gaming another go.

Yes there is :)

For renderers for Unreal or UnrealGold you can go to www.oldunreal.com

- For the installation for Unreal use this Installation Guide Unreal 226
- For the installation for Unreal Gold use this Installation Guide Unreal Gold
- For the installation for Unreal Gold Anthology use this Installation Guide Unreal Gold Anthology

On OldUnreal the development for patch 227 is in full swing, that patch will support OpenGL and D3D9 as well as decals, footsteps etc. At this moment the patch is still in a beta stage but it already is super cool, so you could try that one as well: Old Unreal Beta Patch 227D

I notice that In the High End texture packs both Unreal and UT have same name texture.utx files. To save downloading the same files twice , can The U S3TC textures be placed in the UT Textures directory and vice versa ? Not sure if there are any conflicts etc that might cause problems.
Thx for the help. :)
