Any interests in a 3DSL-lan-wars?

Postby 3DShootMaster » Wed Nov 22, 2006 5:43 pm

I thought about having a 3DSL lan wars for years, just for fun but the winner will get a digital award "3DSL MP-LanWars Award 2006" The award can be added to your account status and therefor visible to everyone.

I choose to play an 'mid old aged' shooter, because I noticed not everyone has an uptodate pc and we are basically here because we like the oldies the most aren't we?. Added a poll for your opinions. Also an option to choose none if you aren't interested or if you think it won't be a good idea, if so submit your reason also.

If it will be a succes we can have each year an event and the winner have to defend his title.

Thanks for your attention!

I have played only SoF and Battlefield(with enormous amount of bots) from this list, therefore I prefer to play BF 1942, but I can get any of those shooters if needed.

Allright, we have 14 votes at this moment. If you would ask me I'd said enough to make it a bloody mess. Anyway my opinion for the day goes to 26-30 Dec. Anyone had a specific day in mind?

It should be a weekend so 30.12 maybe? And almost any hour between 09am and 09pm GMT. I suggest to use GMT because of a time zones.

I agree, the date will be scheduled at 30-12-2006 as long as nobody has a better suggestion, the best time is 10.00 PM GMT. For East-USA 05:00 PM and for West-Europe 11:00 PM. I will make a sign-up topic in this section.

This is a little confusing, LAN means Local Area Network but I'd have to assume you're not actually planning on all meeting up somewhere. So it must just be a mistranslation or some kind of language hiccup right ? Not being a 1st language English user.

And as it seems the game of choice will be UT I'll mention this unofficial patch everybody may like to try. It's networking backwards compatible so not a problem to use it: http://www.utpg.org

I generally prefer cooperative team gameplay modes in games, like players teaming up vs loads of monsters. If I were to compete in some kind of UT match, I would like team-based modes like CTF. Also, I wouldn't mind playing a bit of good ol' Doom2, perhaps even with some special wad(s). It might be fun to all join up and kill some nazis. :P

As for the date, I think I'm unavailable the 30th, so count me out. ;)
