Unwanted opinions of Bioshock 2

Post by Trey »

Just finshed Bioshock 2. The only real new thing here is the fact that you play a 'Big Daddy' and can collect Adam with a 'Little Sister'. There are a few underwater parts, which are nice, but that don't really add anything to the gameplay. You basically just walk from one airlock to another, you can't ramble around and explore. New ememy - the 'Big Sister', basically a faster version of Big Daddy.

I'm not sure how they tweeked the engine but it seems to run much better than the first game did. It still looks real, real nice. Great eye-candy. Sounds pretty darn good too. I really like how they play up the retro atmosphere, with the retro graphics and old music. Design is top notch. It's alway nice to see a shooter with a theme other than military, or gangster. Wish more companies would come up with cool ideas to keep the genre from getting stale.

Really it's just more of the same. If you liked the first game you'll like the second, if not... eh, skip it.

That's what they think on that professional review here.
I approximately translate for you the main idea : "It's the same thing as the first but less successful". :P

for me it sucked big time , your going in a strait line , no turning back points , game finished in 6h when first was a 15h game , forced xLive multiplayer just to have better support from M$ on the xbox360 build , dumping Dx10 water effects+smoke+AA and replacing it ... with a sharpening dx10 filter  and yet still FOV is 75 on the PC then 120 , FPS is locked and did i mention the screen ration 16:9 is fuc.ked , all map location look the same , the same errors that where is the first with more console errors added like clipping issues , game now feels more like a mindless shooter then a Gothic Steam Punk horror , if someone mentions this feels like the first part they should A) check their heads if they aren't mental B)replay the first ,

Thats what you get when a game is STREAMLINED ... just to pleaze the console crowd

Bioshock should have been better if it was a short movie or machinima, because as a game it sucked. Both 1 and 2. Really crappy gameplay.

Of course it feels streamlined, and shallower. Since it's the second game they didn't have to reintroduce the world and it's story to you, they just started a different story in the same world. Yes, it is more linear, which sucks. It was cool to explore the world in the first game, cause it was such a strange place.

There are a couple of bright spots. No annoying issues with mouse control, plus this runs on my rig with everything turned on and all the way up, Bioshock 1 runs very slow on it.

Call me crazy but I didn't enjoy the first Bioshock either. Or System Shock 2 for that matter :(
