Funny how with the controversy about people being able to play on the side of the Taliban against Allied Forces in a currently ongoing war in Afghanistan, they now refer to that side as "Opposing Force" but gameplay hasn't been changed. Gee, I wonder who else would be fighting in Afghanistan. :p

EA suck. They changed the name only because they are afraid of bad press, not do they really care about all. Honestly, I don't understand it - american soldiers are coming to wage a war in Iraq and Afghanistan because they expect to receive material and social rewards afterwards, they don't defend their people there or anything. They know what they are signing for. Why not remove all references to the germans in WW2 games? Unlike today, people were forced to fight back there and haven't had other choice.

The problem is it's a current war, so if you were family or friend of soldiers currently putting their lives on the line - would it be fun to play as their enemy and trying to kill them. Some people wouldn't be bothered - especially young gamers. But, seems the U.S. Army helped EA on the single-player portion and didn't know people would be able to play in multiplayer as the Taliban. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6280702.html Still, only the name of the opposing force was changed so how is that showing respect to the troops.
