Getting back into retro.
There's format called "nib" = original master disk 1:1 - the current platinum standard. Time to toss those old cracktro d64 images. You can get authentic images from this server:
http://cbm8bit.com/8bit/commodore/serve ... owse/Disks
(or get a recent no-intro c64 pp collection, but that might be lacking some new releases like Parallax ntsc, pal)
(note: i'm not sure if the other platforms at cbm8bit have "master" disk images also)
To make nib work in vice, you'll need to get this:
http://c64preservation.com/files/nibtools/
For nibtools-msvc-opencbm5-win32-r598 version, just drag-drop your nib onto nibconv.exe and you'll get a g64 vice-friendly disk (should be near 100% copy protection copied).

Tip for vice: svn nightly builds

01. Use x64sc - it's the pixel cycle-accurate version which fixes strange bugs like Jumpman stats
02. C64 games can be =very slow= to load - use warp speed to avoid old habit of having to make dinner and come back later to play.
03. Use small(est) sound buffer fragment size - tends to be less glitchy on my setup
